His keynote lecture is expected to provide a rigorous examination of the state of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, the imperative of credible and transparent electoral processes, emerging security concerns and the critical responsibility of the media in promoting accountability, transparency and good governance. His participation is also expected to elevate the intellectual dimension of the DOPF conference, which has become an important platform for public discourse in Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.

With more than two decades of academic and administrative experience, Professor Dode has distinguished himself in teaching, research, mentorship and institutional leadership. He has served as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Director of the School of Lifelong Education and Chairman of several strategic university committees. His academic interests and teaching experience cover Political Science, Public Administration, Governance, Public Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Electoral Politics and Strategic Studies.

Beyond the university environment, Professor Dode has made significant contributions to national academic and policy development through his engagements with the National Universities Commission as a Resource Person, Accreditation Team Member and Academic Assessor. He has also served the National Defence College, Abuja, as a Sabbatical Fellow, Guest Lecturer, Research Supervisor and Academic Resource Person, contributing to discourse on governance, security and strategic affairs. He has equally served as External Examiner and Assessor to several universities across Nigeria and has received numerous honours for his contributions to scholarship and educational advancement.

The DOPF Annual Conference and Lecture Series attracts government officials, policymakers, legislators, academics, media professionals, civil society organisations, security experts, political leaders and other stakeholders for informed engagement on issues of national importance. Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, is expected to grace the 2026 edition as Special Guest of Honour, alongside other eminent personalities.

With Professor Dode Oghenedoro as keynote lecturer, the 2026 DOPF Conference and 6th Lecture Series is poised to provide a robust intellectual platform for examining the pressures on Nigeria’s democracy and exploring practical pathways towards stronger electoral institutions, improved security, responsible media practice and more accountable governance.
