2027: Yoruba in Okpe Community officially endorse Tinubu, Delta Gov. Oborevwori, Dafinone, Onoyake, Augoye for second term ***Expresses readiness to support APC Candidates

The Yoruba Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State  on Sunday officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, RT.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the member representing the people of Delta Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Sen. Ede Dafinone for a second term in office as the 2027 general elections draw near just as it expressed its readiness to support all the Candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC 5/5 in the election. The Yoruba Community also endorsed the former Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon.(Chief) Ranson Tega Onoyake to represent the people of Okpe/Sapele & Uvwie at the House of Representatives and Hon.(Chief) James Augoye for the Delta State House of Assembly, Okpe Constituency.

 
The endorsement was held at Ugbokodo Community in Okpe Local Government Area. 

Chief Emehin Babatunde Innocent(Asiwaju) spoke on behalf of the Yoruba Community in Okpe during the Political gathering. 

In an address presented, Chief Emehin said, "After consultation within our community, we have decided to publicly endorse the All Progressives Congress  APC, and to express our support for His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the federal level, and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, at the state level and all other APC ASPIRANTS 5/5."

According to him, "Our decision is based on our desire for unity, inclusion, development, representation and a stronger relationship between our community and government.

"As Yoruba people living and contributing to the development of Okpe Kingdom and Delta State, we believe we have a responsibility to participate positively in the political process.

We are traders. We are entrepreneurs. We are professionals. We are artisans. We are workers. We are investors. We are parents and community builders.

We contribute to the economic and social life of the communities where we live.

Therefore, we should not remain on the sidelines when decisions affecting our communities are being made."

Chief Emehin commended the good works being done at the various levels of government by President Tinubu. 

While noting that leadership is not an easy responsibility, Chief Emehin said, "Governing a country as diverse as Nigeria, or a state as important as Delta, requires difficult decisions, planning, investment and continuous engagement with the people."

He said, "At the national level, we acknowledge the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the direction of his administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

"We recognise the administration’s focus on economic reform and its efforts to create a more stable foundation for investment and long-term growth.

"For us, economic growth is not simply a figure on paper. What matters is how economic activity translates into opportunities for our people, opportunities for businesses to grow, young people to find productive work, entrepreneurs to access markets, and communities to attract investment.

"We also commend the administration’s emphasis on infrastructure development. According to the Presidency, thousands of kilometres of highways and major roads are under construction, reconstruction or rehabilitation, alongside rail, power and other infrastructure projects.

"We commend the government’s efforts in infrastructure, education, agriculture, housing, energy, telecommunications and industrial development. 

"We recognise that good infrastructure connects farmers to markets, students to schools, workers to opportunities and communities to economic growth. 

"We also acknowledge initiatives such as NELFUND, agricultural support, improved refining capacity and investments in power and industry. These efforts, in our view, contribute to creating opportunities for Nigerians to produce, invest, build businesses and create employment.

"At the same time, we recognise that Nigerians continue to face economic pressures and that there is still considerable work to be done. Our commendation is therefore accompanied by an expectation that the benefits of economic growth and development will continue to reach ordinary families and communities."

Chief Emehin also commended Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori's led Delta State Government for given attention to road infrastructure, connectivity, urban development and other projects across the state.

"For communities in Delta State, infrastructure is particularly important. Our people depend on good roads and transportation networks to conduct business, move agricultural products, access schools and hospitals, and connect our communities with one another.

"The Delta State government’s own publications have highlighted road projects and infrastructure development in different parts of the state, including the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, the Enerhen Flyover, the DSC Flyover in Warri, the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, and many more.

"We also commend the state’s attention to education and human capital development. For example, Delta State has highlighted the establishment of additional faculties at Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, including faculties connected to medical and health education.

"These investments matter because infrastructure without human capital cannot deliver sustainable development.

"We want our young people to have access to education, skills and opportunities. We want businesses to have an environment where they can grow. 

"We want communities to have infrastructure that allows them to participate fully in the state’s economy.

We therefore commend the Governor and the state government for the areas where these efforts are being made, while also encouraging continued attention to the needs of communities across Delta State."

Chief Emehin also commended all the  APC Candidates especially, the member representing the people of Okpe Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief James Augoye, PhD, for his continued engagement with the grassroots and his support for initiatives that bring political leadership closer to the people. 

"We particularly appreciate his support for this programme and his willingness to identify with our community at this important occasion. 

"His presence and support demonstrate the importance he places on community engagement, unity and partnership. We sincerely appreciate him for standing with us, and we pray that God will continue to grant him wisdom and strength in his service to the people of Okpe and Delta State".

While appreciating Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for,the Yoruba Community extended its hand of partnership to him..

"We appreciate the development efforts we have highlighted today, and we encourage continued attention to infrastructure, education, economic opportunities, employment, security and inclusive development across Delta State.

"As a community that lives and contributes within this state, we want to work with the government.

"We want our concerns to be heard. We want our people to be carried along. And we want to contribute positively to the continued development of Delta State."

In his response, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori thanked the Yoruba Community in Okpe for the honour and endorsement done President Bola Tinubu, himself and other candidates. Governor Oborevwori who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sen. Edesiri Emmanuel Aguariawovdo said,"To the Yoruba Community, on behalf of His Excellency, RT.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori,I want to say we are very grateful. 

"We are grateful because, an endorsement is not a small thing. Because you have taken a position and you are not going back..

"You have told the world 
say na here we stand. Na this road we dey pass and this is also our road. We are already 
on the road. So, you came to join us. Welcome on board."

Governor Oborevwori said Delta State Government is not afraid of the 2027 election as it is prepared to deliver all candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC 5/5 and to give 100% votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He boasted that President Tinubu will win the forthcoming election hands down and no one will challenge it because God Almighty has already ordained it. 

He also appealed to the Yoruba Community in Okpe Community to inform their people in Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Ekiti and Osun States that Delta State have taken a position which is 5/5. 

"So, they should follow our example. We've taken that decision. So,we are not afraidof that at all. 

"Thank you acknowledging what our governor is doing. He is doing well. We owe him. He is a bulldozer that's why you are seeing all the things you are seeing. He is a problem solver. Thank you very much."
