Dr. Ekanpou to release Tompolo’s Haulers and Hailers, Wanted Man in Camp Four, 9 other books in September

Award-winning author, Dr. Enewaridideke Ekanpou, is set to formally release 11 new literary works in September 2026, headlined by Tompolo’s Haulers and Hailers and The Wanted Man in Camp Four among others. 

The Burutu-born writer, from Akparemogbene in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, won the prestigious Isidore Okpewho Prize for Literature in 2004 for his acclaimed work, The Road to Ken Saro-Wiwa.

The new collection, which spans drama, prose and poetry, interrogates Nigeria’s past and present realities through the lens of environmental advocacy and moral conscientisation.

The 11 books, which cut across drama, prose and poetry, draw from Nigeria’s historical and contemporary realities, blending environmental advocacy with moral conscientization to interrogate issues of governance, development, and state-citizen relations.

According to a statement announcing the forthcoming release, the works are philosophically, culturally and socially rich, and are designed to stimulate national conversations on Nigeria’s development trajectory, with particular focus on the Niger Delta.

Tompolo’s Haulers and Hailers is at the heart of the collection. The book makes a case for the Federal Government and multinational oil companies to adopt a more responsive and equitable developmental approach in their engagements with oil-producing communities.

It also interrogates the campaigns of misinformation, disinformation and propaganda that have trailed the ongoing war against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft in Nigeria. Ekanpou argues that such narratives are aimed at distracting public attention and discrediting patriotic efforts to curb economic and environmental crimes in the region.

Beyond critique, the author presents the collection as a deliberate creative intervention to strengthen advocacy against pipeline vandalism, promote good governance and environmental justice, and push for greater developmental recognition for the Niger Delta.

The statement added that after its formal release in September 2026, the books will be presented to notable individuals, institutions and corporate organisations across different fora to broaden public discourse on governance, environmental protection and the fight against oil theft.

In the book, the author also deconstructs what he describes as a sophisticated propaganda machinery allegedly deployed by interests opposed to the anti-oil theft campaign.

Describing himself as an “environmental advocate and moral conscientiser,” Dr. Ekanpou said his literary work is anchored on the pursuit of a better Nigeria and a multidimensionally developed Niger Delta.

The formal public presentation of the 11 books is scheduled to take place in September 2026.
