I'm a People's Politician, not a conventional one-Hon. Obas

The House of Representatives Aspirant for Ughelli North/Ughelli South and Udu federal constituency, Hon. Johnny Obakpororo popularly known as Obas has said he is a "People's Politician" and not the conventional Politician around. He said he is loyal to the people and not conventional Politicians who are loyal to their political parties. Obas made the assertion when he paid a thank you visit to the ancient Ovie of Agbarha-Otor Kingdom........and his teeming supporters in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.  

In a chat with newsmen at the Monarch's palace, Obas explained that he sees politics differently from the way others sees it.

"I am a people's politician, not like normal politicians we see around us" stressing that his allegiance is to the people that make up the political party, not the party.

On the just concluded primary election of the National Democratic Congress,NDC, Obas was an Aspirant under the party' platform said the primary election has come and gone and the focus is to galvanise and sensitise the people on how to choose the right people to lead them.

According to Obas,"Looking at the three local government areas made up of Ughelli North, South and Udu federal constituency, it seems they are not existing in the politics of the state and even the national. The voices of the three local government areas are not heard because nobody speaks for them. We must put a stop to it. Enough is enough.

"The problem of the country is that people choose to be loyal to the political parties rather than to be loyal to the people. I'm loyal to the people, not to the party first", he stated.

"You see, we have a problem in this country: the problem of being loyal to the party instead of being loyal to the people. I am loyal to the people, not loyal to the party; that is why I put myself forward to represent them. It's not a party thing; it’s about the people".

He also said after his party's primary election, his leaders both at the local government level and state prevailed on him to step aside, and for the respect he has for the leaders, elders, and stakeholders of his party, he yielded to their advice.

Obas who also spoke at Agbarha-otor Town Hall, commended the doggedness and support of his supporters in Agbarha-Otor, assuring them of better days ahead to represent them.

Reacting to the former HoR candidate's "Thank You Visit ", Oghene Ochuko said the visit came as a surprise to them (supporters) because they did not expect him to come back to say thank you.

"Many people even when they have won the election they will not come back to say thank you to us but he came back to appreciate us he’s a good man. He’s a kind man he even donated some cash to us which we did not also expect. He gave us gift there were food and drinks and water and it got to each and everyone of us. We are very grateful to him and we pray God to grant him the grace rule us."

The immediate past President-General of Samagidi-Agbarha-Otor Community, Comrade Emmanuel Odoko, described Comrade Johnny Obakpororo as the "People's General" who has used his good office to bring succour to the lives of many in the council area and beyond.
