Adeleke Declares Work-Free Day for Osun Workers to Collect PVCs

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for public servants across the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election and future electoral exercises.

The directive applies to all categories of state public servants, including employees of local government councils and tertiary institutions.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, who said the approval was conveyed through a circular signed by the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina.

According to the circular, the work-free day is intended to provide public servants with adequate time to fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs before the scheduled elections.

However, workers providing essential services, including healthcare personnel and security agencies, were exempted from the directive.

The government advised affected institutions to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and prevent disruptions to critical public services.

Governor Adeleke urged all eligible voters who are yet to collect their voter cards to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that active participation in the electoral process is fundamental to strengthening democracy and determining the future of the state.

"I encourage all registered voters to visit the designated collection centres without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter card is your access to the ballot paper and, by extension, the ballot box," the governor said.

The governor reiterated his administration's commitment to promoting citizens' participation in the democratic process and encouraged residents to exercise their constitutional right by voting during the forthcoming elections.
