Police arrest man for beating to death his four year old step-son to death in Delta, one other
The Police in Abraka Division,Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested a man simply identified as Ese for beating to death as well as burning his four(4)old step-son, Ukeme Edet because he did not flush the toilet after using same in Eku Community. Also arrested is the Eku Community Chairman.
The suspects and others to attack and beat to stupor, the biological father of the deceased, Edet Effiong with his brother when he demanded to know why the suspect killed his son.
It was learnt that the uspect buried the minor without the consent of the father with threats to him and his brother who joined him on the visit.
The suspects who boasted that no Police can come and effect their arrest in Eku Community allegedly forced the biological father of the little boy to deposed to an "Affidavit" under duress on 1st July before Magistrate Court sitting in Eku Community that the matter had been amicably settled and that he does not want any case.
In the affidavit, it was mentioned,"That the said Late Ukeme died as a result of flogging by his step father on 30th day of June 2026 at Eku and the matter was reported to the Nigeria Police at Eku.
"That the matter has been amicably settled between the two families and we want the case to be withdrawn from the Police Station.
"That this is now required for purpose hence this affidavit.
"That the Nigerian Police Force to whom it may concern and the general public should take note."
Narrating his ordeal, the biological father of the deceased boy, Edet Effiong said he had been cohabiting with the boy's mother and had not paid her dowry but was surprised when he returned home from work one day that the woman had packed out to join the suspect as her new found love in his residence. According to him, she he does not satisfy her sexually stressing that,"it is the new man that knows the job".
He also said he was surprised to have been called from Kwale where he based that his son,Ukeme had been beaten to death by his step-father.
He said,"When I came with my brother, he and the community chairman and other youths attacked and beat us seriously. They forced us to deposed the affidavit boasting that no Police can arrest them. I am surprised the mother of the boy is not saying anything about the matter but is still sleeping with the suspect every night in his house."
It was learnt that the matter came to the fore after after a popular human right activist, Comrade Efemena Umukoro A.k.a, Akima raised the alarm over the matter with a call on the Police to immediately arrest, prosecute and send the suspects to jail in the interest of justice.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer,SP Bright Edafe is yet to reply to a WhatsApp message sent to him for confirmation of the report..
