Ughelli Rotary set to honour Warri NUJ Chairman Omafuaire a Meritorious Service Award

The Rotary Club of Ughelli Metropolis, District 9141, has announced that Olorogun Akpokona Omafuaire, Esq., Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Warri Correspondents' Chapel, will receive its 2026 Meritorious Service and Leadership Award.

In a notification letter signed by President-Elect Rtn. Akpobome Rufus Ibebe and Secretary Rtn. Akpevwe Paul Aloba, the club said the award recognises Omafuaire's "exemplary leadership, distinguished professional accomplishments, and outstanding service to humanity and society."

According to Rotary, Omafuaire was selected for his unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, community development, and the advancement of justice. The club noted that his contributions have extended beyond the legal profession to impact individuals, institutions, and communities through mentorship and service-oriented leadership.

"Your life's work reflects the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self, making you a worthy recipient of this prestigious honour," the letter stated.

The award will be presented during the Investiture Ceremony of Comrade Akpobome Rufus Ibebe as President of Rotary Club of Ughelli Metropolis for 2026/2027 Rotary year.

However, the event is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026. The club said it would be honoured by Omafuaire's presence as it celebrates his accomplishments and contributions to leadership and community services.
