The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has moved to calm fears surrounding Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following the circulation of a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forest area adjoining the institution.

The development sparked public concern and prompted an immediate security response from the Lagos State Police Command.

As part of efforts to assess the situation firsthand, CP Jimoh conducted an on-the-spot security assessment of the university alongside operational personnel of the Command. The visit was aimed at evaluating security conditions around the campus and reassuring students, staff, and parents that adequate measures are being taken to ensure their safety.

During the assessment, the police chief met with the university's management and stressed the need to continuously strengthen the institution's security architecture to prevent potential threats. He also advised the management on practical steps to improve security within and around the campus while cautioning against actions that could inadvertently weaken existing security structures.

According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Police Command, CP Jimoh emphasised the importance of adopting proactive security measures, particularly in the areas of perimeter protection, access control, and collaboration with relevant security agencies

To further boost security operations, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), with support from the Lagos State Government, has deployed surveillance drones around the university and neighbouring communities The deployment is expected to enhance aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and crime-prevention efforts within the axis.

Speaking during the visit, CP Jimoh reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State. The Police Command also reiterated its resolve to maintain peace, public safety, and security while urging residents to remain security-conscious and provide credible, timely information to law enforcement agencies.

Residents were further encouraged to make use of the command's emergency lines to report suspicious movements and security-related incidents. The assessment comes amid heightened concerns generated by the viral video, as authorities intensify surveillance and other preventive measures around the university and its environs.
