Delta monarch demands withdrawal, correction of misleading report linking convicted to Idjerhe Kingdom by Oasis Online Magazine

The Ovie of great Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey, JP, Ph.D, Udurhie I,has demanded that Oasis Online Magazine withdraw and correct with immediate effect, what he termed a "misleading" publication linking a convicted criminal to Idjerhe Kingdom. 

The monarch made the demand in a press statement signed by the Crowned Ototo (Spokesman) of great Idjerhe Kingdom, UZZI Onosia James Ofrikis. 

Part of the press statement read thus, "The attention of His Royal Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey, JP, Ph.D, Udurhie I, Ovie of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom, the Council of Chiefs, and the entire people of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom has been drawn to a publication by OASIS Online Magazine titled: "Jesse: Chief Jailed 20 Years After Faking Kidnap To Extort Wife, Family", concerning one Chief Igho America Israel.

"While we recognize the right of the media to report judicial proceedings and matters of public interest, we are compelled to express our strong objection to any direct or indirect association of the convicted individual with the Great Idjerhe Kingdom.

"For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Igho America Israel is not an indigene of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom. He is neither a traditional chief of Idjerhe Kingdom nor a resident of the Kingdom.

"Consequently, any impression created by the publication that associates his criminal conduct with the Great Idjerhe Kingdom is false, misleading,unfair, and capable of causing reputational harm to the Kingdom and its people."

According to the reverred monarch, "The Great Idjerhe Kingdom is a respected traditional institution founded on the principles of integrity, honour, hard work, accountability, and respect for the rule of law."

He noted that,"The Kingdom does not celebrate, encourage, or glorify criminality, fraudulent conduct, or the acquisition of wealth through unlawful means."

He stressed that, "Our people have always been known for their industriousness, dignity, and commitment to community development."

The Ovie of great Idjerhe Kingdom said,"We therefore call on OASIS Online Magazine to immediately withdraw, amend, or clarify any aspect of the publication that may suggest a connection between the OTOTA' R' IDJERHE convicted individual and the Great Idjerhe Kingdom."

He explained that,"Such clarification is necessary to prevent the dissemination of misinformation and to protect the reputation and integrity of our revered traditional institution.

"We further urge members of the public, media organizations, and all stakeholders to disregard any insinuation linking the said individual or his criminal conviction to the Great Idjerhe Kingdom.

"His Royal Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey, JP, Ph.D, Udurhie 1,remains steadfast in his commitment to promoting peace, justice, unity, and sustainable development throughout the Kingdom. The people of Idjerhe Kingdom will continue to uphold the values and traditions that have distinguished them for
generations.

"We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the media and the general public in ensuring that factual accuracy and fairness prevail in matters affecting the reputation of traditional instituts and communities."
