NUJ Warri commends Nigerian Customs Service Edo/Delta Command for exceeding 2025 budget
THE Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents' Chapel in Delta State Thursday commended the Nigeria Nigeria Customs Service, NCS Edo/Delta Area Command for exceeding its 2025 budget.
The NUJ Warri Chairman, Okakuro Akpokona Omafuaire made the commendation when he led members of the Union on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service. 
According to him, "The Nigeria Customs Service was able to its 2025 target by over 18% by raking up N125.13Billion from January-December 2025. It shows that Edo/Delta Command are doing very well despite the poor state of the Warri ports."
Omafuaire pledged the Union's readiness to continue to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Edo/Delta Area Command in all its activities especially in the area of information dissermination.
He also appealed to the Nigeria Customs Service to add its voice to that of stakeholders and ensure that the Warri Port is revamped.
He explained that the reason for the courtesy visit was to introduced its newly elected Executive to the Nigerian Customs Service,Edo/Delta Command whom it considers as its partner in progress.
He said that the Custom is critical to the economic development of the nation because of the role it plays in revenue generation and they 're also partners in progress.
Omafuaire said, the NUJ Warri is the most distinct chapel across Nigeria. He added that, "Warri Chapel is the most vocal in all the Chapels in Delta State.
Omafuaire also praised TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited,TSSNL for building a befitting Secretariat for the Union which he said, "It's first of its kind."
According to him,"We are not bandits or hoodlums. We are people who are willing to cooperate with you." He also praised the Nigeria Customs Service for exceeding
In a swift response, the Comptroller, Nigeria Customs Service, Edo/Delta Command, Judith Kanu welcomed the Journalists to the Edo/Delta Command.
Comptroller Kanu who was flanked by some Deputies and Assistant Comptrollers of Customs assured that the Nigeria Customs Service will collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents' Chapel in all its activities.
She noted that, "The media remains a critical partner in nation-building and public service. Your role in informing, educating and enlightening the public cannot be overemphized.
"Through your responsible journalism, you help bridge the gap between government institutions and the citizens we serve.
"As a Command, we recognized the importance of maintaing a cordial and professional relationship with the media. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and timely dissermination of accurate information concerning our operations and activities.
"We believe that a strong partnership with the press contributes significantly to public confidence and support for our mandate.
"I wish to commend members of the media for your efforts in promoting peace,security and national development through balanced and objective reporting. We encourage you to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethical journalism.
"The Edo/Delta Command remains dedicated to carrying out its responsibilities efficiently while fostering collaboration with all stakeholders. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with the media and working together in the interest of the public and our nation."
