Omo-Agege resigns from APC, cites misalignment with constituents’ interests
Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective immediately.
In a letter dated May 22, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North LGA, Delta State, Omo-Agege said his decision followed consultations with associates and supporters over recent developments in the party in Delta State.
“After reviewing recent developments in the party in Delta State and consulting with my associates and supporters, it is clear my political objectives and those of my constituents are better served outside the APC,” he wrote.
The former senator, who served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate from 2019 to 2023, stated that he would not remain in a party where he could not advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” he said.
Omo-Agege thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve at the national level and requested that his name be removed from all party membership records, registers, and communication lists.
He added that his focus remains on delivering development and effective representation for his constituency and the country, which he intends to pursue outside the APC.
Omo-Agege, who holds the traditional title of Obarisi of Urhoboland, served as Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th National Assembly.
