The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it was denied access to the Eagle Square.

Wike also moved to calm public concerns over recent structural damage reported at the Kugbo Bus Terminal, assuring residents during a project inspection tour on Monday in Abuja.

Reacting to the allegations, the minister described claims of politically motivated denial of access to Eagle Square as “unfounded,” adding that they were “attempts to gain public sympathy.”

He stated that no formal request had been received from any of the parties making the claims, insisting that the venue remains accessible to all groups that follow laid-down procedures.

“We do not deny access; these events actually generate revenue for the government.

“Who denied them? I am not aware of any such development, and I don’t even know which party you are referring to.

“If it is the African Democratic Congress ADC, such claims are their usual attempt to gain public sympathy,” Wike said.

He explained that the use of Eagle Square is subject to due process, including the submission of a formal application through the Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL), the agency responsible for managing the facility, as well as payment of the required fees.

Wike further clarified that the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome does not fall under the control of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), but is managed by the National Sports Commission (NSC).
