Delta Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Cut-to-Size Gun, Cartridges in Agbor
The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and motorcycle snatchers in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, and recovered a locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with live ammunition.
The Command also recovered a Toyota Sienna vehicle allegedly conveying suspected vandalised items in Sapele.
The arrests and recoveries were disclosed in a press statement issued on Thursday, April 2, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi.
According to the statement, operatives of the Agbor Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, on March 31, 2026, at about 7:45pm, intercepted two suspects, Julius Godday (31) and Mzemeke Peter (28), while on anti-crime patrol and stop-and-search duty at College Junction, Agbor.
The police said the suspects, who were riding on a motorcycle, attempted to flee upon sighting officers but were swiftly pursued and arrested.
A search reportedly conducted on them led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun loaded with two live cartridges.
Preliminary investigation, the Command said, revealed that the suspects are members of the Eiye confraternity and are allegedly linked to a series of motorcycle snatching incidents in the area.
The statement added that the suspects have confessed and are currently in custody, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Asaba, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
In a separate operation, the police said it recovered a suspected stolen Toyota Sienna bus conveying vandalised items, including iron cuts and a gas cylinder.
The Command explained that on March 30, 2026, at about 1:30pm, Sapele Division received a report from a concerned resident who claimed to have sighted the vehicle transporting suspected vandalised materials.
Operatives were immediately deployed to the location, but the suspects allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush upon sighting the police.
The vehicle was recovered and towed to the station, while investigation has commenced and efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commending the operatives for their swift response, CP Oyeniyi urged residents to continue supporting the police with credible information, assuring that the Command remains committed to combating crime across the state.
He also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
