APC Primary: Opuoru declares intentions to contest,Warri South Constituency II seat, warns opponent to stop blackmailing him, says you're not only Urhobo candidate
Ahead of the 2027 general elections in the Country, the Senior Special Adviser on Environment to the Delta State Governor, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru declared his intentions to contest the Warri South Constituency II Seat with a strong message sent to his opponent to stop blackmailing him and claiming that he is the only "Urhobo man" contesting the forthcoming Primary election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Warri South Constituency II into the State House of Assembly.
Opuoru also challenged his opponent who wants to contest the APC Primary election with him to show his score card for his nearly four years in office and stop weeping ethnic sentiments in the political contest. He urged his opponent to go to the field with him and let them slug it out politically.
"Stop saying, "You are the only Urhobo contesting the Primary election. My father and mother are Urhobos. You are not even from this area."
He handed down the warning at his Bendel Estate residence in DDP, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area when the people of Ukpokiti Community presented him the award.
Opuoru who is the Eni of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom said during his reign as a member representing the people of Warri South Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, he was able to donate chairs and other educational furnitures to Igbudu primary school, Essi College and Pessu Primary School.
He pointed out that he was able to pay his monthly stipends of over a million naira, construction road projects amongst others.
Opuoru said, "I went to Abuja for the convention. I have not been talking. I just do my politics. I don't talk about people until someone had the audacity to say he is the only Urhobo Candidate that is contesting.
"I fear ooooo. I don't know I come from. Maybe am from Senegal. You can imagine that insult, audacity, the innuendos, the temerity but I decided that it is time for me speak.
According to him, "Am the great grand child of Omo-Ineh pointing out that he is from Okwabude, Okpe axis, Okere-Urhobo Kingdom and Agbarha-Warri Kingdom respectively.
Opuoru pointed out that, "My mother is related to Uku family of Itsekiri Nation. I answer Ijaw Name, Opuoru.
He added that, Opuoru means, big juju" saying nobody can challenge that.
He stressed that, "For Uvwie, na from Afieki we come from. Somebody come get heart dey talk say na him be Urhoho candidate for where I dey."
Opuoru said his opponent should blame him now that the people who supported him in his election have all left him.
"I sat down when he called one of my boys say the King talk say na him go win. You don't talk about things like that. You have insulted the monarch. Even if you waan do something secret, keep it secret. Don't go outside to say it to public people because you don't know what it might bring.
"Your papa na from Ododegho. I be Omo-Ineh grand child related to Utien from Agbarha-Warri.
"Let me send a clear message to Benson Obire. Stop blackmailing me. Go to the field let's battle. Let the winner take it."
Earlier, the people Ukpokiti Community,Agbarha-Warri Kingdom presented to him an award for his dedication to the Community's bridge.
The Otota(Spokesman) ,Mr. Adolor Ideh made the presentation on behalf of the people.
He said before now, there had been no bridge connecting Oteghele, Omadino and Ughoton Communities until Hon. Opuoru, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly assisted by paving the way for them to see the former governor,Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa amongst others.
Present at the award ceremony were the leader of the Warri Urhobos in APC, Prof.(Dr.) Israel Abido and the Chairman of Arewa Community, Alhaji Jibrin Haruna with Chief Venture Daniels.
The people of Ukpokiti Community were joined by their Oteghele counterparts during the presentation.
