Renewed hope ambassadors unveil South-South summit plans in Asaba amid push for unified messaging
As preparations intensify for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ South-South Zonal Summit in Asaba, details of the programme have emerged, with organisers positioning the gathering as a strategic platform for grassroots mobilisation and coordinated political messaging, even as observers note its timing within a broader national reform narrative.
Addressing Journalists in Asaba, Delta State Coordinator of the group, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, outlined the structure of the two-day summit themed “One Party, One Message, One Mobilization,” saying it would bring together key political actors, including state and local government coordinators across the South-South.
Solomon disclosed that the summit follows a similar engagement held in Abuja and was initiated by the South-South Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, to harmonise communication strategies and strengthen coordination among party faithful.
According to him, activities will commence on Monday at the Press Centre, New Government House, Asaba, with registration slated for 8:30 am, while Dr. Okowa is expected to deliver the welcome address and Senator Adedayo Clement Adeyeye will give the opening remarks.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is billed to serve as Chief Host and present a goodwill message, while Senator Hope Uzodinma, National Coordinator and Director General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, will officially declare the summit open.
The programme, Solomon said, will feature four paper presentations focusing on governance and political communication, including sessions by Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on reforms, Felix C. Morka on governance messaging, and Senator Ajibola Basiru on grassroots mobilisation, with Day Two to include a presentation by Chief Olisa Metuh on election strategy.
Beyond the formal agenda, the summit is also expected to serve as a mobilisation hub, with the planned inauguration of local government and ward coordinators and their deputies raising questions about how structured political messaging is being deployed ahead of future electoral cycles.
Solomon maintained that the objective is to deepen public understanding of reforms introduced under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that “the party, the ambassadors, and the government must speak with one voice. Our goal is to ensure that the achievements and benefits of these reforms are clearly understood by the people.”
He pointed to policy measures such as fuel subsidy removal, student loan schemes, improved fiscal management, and what he described as growing economic stability as key messages to be communicated, noting that about 150 participants are expected at the summit, which he expressed confidence would strengthen cohesion and political engagement across the region.
