Oborevwori celebrates Tony Elumelu at 63, hails legacy of enterprise and impact
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Chairman of United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as a transformative figure whose impact continues to resonate across Africa.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor praised Elumelu as “an exceptional leader whose life continues to inspire hope, enterprise and prosperity across Africa.”
Oborevwori further described the UBA chairman as a distinguished son of Delta State and “a shining symbol of excellence, resilience and visionary leadership.”
He noted that Elumelu’s rise from modest beginnings to global recognition reflects the power of determination, discipline and purposeful living.
According to the governor, Elumelu has remained a source of pride to Delta State, particularly through his commitment to Africapitalism and entrepreneurship, which has driven inclusive growth across the continent.
He said the businessman’s investments and philanthropic efforts have empowered thousands of young Africans, enabling many to rise out of poverty and build sustainable ventures.
Oborevwori added that Elumelu’s belief in Africa’s potential and his efforts to expand access to opportunities have strengthened economies and restored hope to countless families.
“As you celebrate 63 impactful years, your life remains a beacon of inspiration to our youths and a reminder that greatness is achievable through vision, courage and service to humanity,” the governor stated.
He also prayed for continued strength and wisdom for Elumelu, expressing confidence that his legacy of empowerment and transformation would continue to shape Africa’s future for generations.
