Four abducted in Oyo as police launch rescue operation

Four persons have been confirmed abducted along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in Oyo State, prompting the police to launch a coordinated search and rescue operation aimed at securing the victims’ safe release and arresting the perpetrators.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the Command swiftly has mobilised its operational units after receiving reports of the incident.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police in the state promptly ordered a coordinated security deployment involving officers from the affected divisions.

"Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of Kishi and Igbeti Divisions, supported by other tactical teams, to deploy all necessary operational assets to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the prompt arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators," Ayanlade stated.

He explained that a comprehensive search-and-rescue operation is currently underway, with security personnel combing nearby forests and communities while intensifying intelligence gathering to track down the suspects.

The police spokesperson reassured residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

"The Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and urges members of the public to remain calm while providing any useful information that could assist ongoing operations," Ayanlade added.

He also appealed to members of the public with credible information that could aid the rescue efforts to promptly share it with the nearest security agency.
