Bayelsa gets new Deputy Governor

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has nominated Pastor (Hon.) Peter Pereotubo Akpe, the Chief of Staff at Government House, as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

The nomination received the approval of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, putting an end to months of speculation over who would succeed the late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who died on December 11, 2025.

Dr. Akpe, a former Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, is from Ebedebiri community in Sagbama Local Government Area the same locality as his predecessor.
