There's no fire burning in hell - GKS
A prominent minister of the God's Kingdom Society, Brother Ohwotu K. Iriferi, Station Minister, Abuja Zone has sparked a theoretical debate, saying, "there's no fire burning in hell."
Brother Iriferi made this known to PEBNEWS in an interview during the 3rd day of this year's Christian Feast of Tabernacles at Salem City, Warri.
Brother Iriferi argued that the bible teaches that hell simply means the grave or tomb and not a place of eternal fire and torment.
He cited Genesis chapter 3, verse 19, which states that man was taken from dust and shall return to dust, arguing that if hell-fire existed, Adam would have been the first to go there.
The Minister also referenced Ecclesiastes 9:5 and 10, which say that the dead know nothing and there is no work or knowledge in the grave, to support his claims that hell is not a place of suffering.
He further emphasized that Jesus' words in Mark chapter 9, verses 43-48, were misinterpreted, and that hell-fire actually refers to total destruction and everlasting death.
The Minister said, "Christians should preach truth and not use hell-fire as a means to threaten people, but rather to encourage righteousness and warn of the consequences of wickedness."
He stressed that, "Yes, hell is real, but it means grave and when talking about hell-fire, it means total destruction in which there is no more resurrection, no good thing again and this will be when man dies the second time,' he added.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of living a righteous life to attain everlasting life.
