A two-month-old baby, Riches Oghale, has been abducted by suspected gunmen operating with a commercial tricycle along the NNPC Bypass by Airport Road, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident, which occurred Monday afternoon, has thrown residents and commuters along the busy route into shock and renewed concerns over public safety in the area.

How the Abduction Happened

The abduction reportedly took place at about 4:00 p.m. near the traffic light by Delta Careers College, a location usually crowded with both vehicular and human activities.

Narrating her ordeal, the baby’s mother, Mrs. Rita Oghale, said she was returning home with her children after boarding a commercial tricycle from Shaguolor Junction to Airport Road.

According to her, aside from herself and her two children, there were two other passengers a man and a woman seated at the back of the tricycle.

Mrs. Oghale said trouble began when the tricycle reached the NNPC Bypass near the Delta Careers College fence, just before the traffic light, when the male passenger suddenly produced a firearm and pointed it at her.

“He demanded my baby, and before I could react, he forcefully pulled my two-month-old child from my arms,” she said.

She added that the suspect collected her phone number, pushed her and her other child out of the tricycle and immediately sped off with the baby.

The abducted infant was identified as Riches Oghale.

Police Notified, Appeal for Help

The distraught mother disclosed that the incident has been reported at a police station, and investigations are ongoing to rescue the child.

She appealed to members of the public to assist with any useful information that could lead to the recovery of her baby, urging anyone with relevant details to contact the nearest police station or any security agency.

“I am begging Nigerians to help me. I just want my baby back alive,” she pleaded.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Delta State Police Command on the incident.
