Deltan woman narrowly escapes kidnapping attempt after church service
A 35-year-old mother of three, Joyce Ughovwan, yesterday recounted her terrifying experience of being kidnapped and robbed after attending an evening lecture during this year's Christian Feast of Tabernacles at God's Kingdom Society (GKS), Salem City, Warri, Delta State.
PEBNEWS reports that Joyce was attacked by two men who emerged from a keke (tricycle) at Udu Express Junction, beaten, blindfolded with her hair tie, and pushed her into the vehicle.
Joyce emphasized that the kidnappers took her phone, POS machine and ATM card. "Amount they extorted from me is more N,700,000," she lamented.
Joyce said, explaining that she was dropped at Agbaro Expressway and managed to escape and seek help from a samaritan.
She added that the kidnappers also tried calling numbers with her phone to collect ransom before she was finally free late in the night.
The incident has been reported to the authorities, and Ughovwan plans to process a statement.
