The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered the body of a 65-year-old man who fell into a deep well at Oke-Oga Atipe, Idi-Aga, Ibadan.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reform and Chairman of the agency, Moroof Akinwande.

Reports indicate that a similar tragedy occurred in November 2025, when the body of a 45-year-old man was retrieved from a deep well at Odo-Ogbo, Oja-Agbe area of Iseyin.

Providing details of the latest incident, Akinwande said:

“The distress call was received at exactly 09:42hrs on Thursday, December 4, 2025, through a telephone call from Mr Damola, that someone had fallen into a deep well at the above address. The agency’s officers, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, were promptly deployed to the scene.

“On getting to the scene, it was discovered that a man of about 65 years of age had fallen into a deep well. He was recovered and handed over to a team of policemen led by SP Idowu from Agugu Police Division.”

Akinwande urged members of the public to prioritise mental health, avoid depression, and adhere to safety measures in their daily activities. He further stressed the need for buildings to be equipped with fire extinguishers, especially during the dry season, to reduce the risk of emergencies.
