Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will embark on a strategic working visit to Germany today to strengthen Delta’s partnership with leading construction firm, Julius Berger, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has said.

Aniagwu, who made the disclosure at a press briefing in Asaba, said the visit was strictly official and focused on deepening technical collaboration and securing improved project terms for the state.

“The purpose of this visit is to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Julius Berger. His Excellency is known for his negotiation skills, and this trip will help us secure better deals and concessions that will benefit the state,” he stated.

The Commissioner, flanked by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Projects and Policies, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, stressed that the visit was not for leisure but aimed at enhancing project delivery and cost efficiency.

Recalling the state’s previous engagement with Chinese partners, Aniagwu noted that such collaboration yielded significant infrastructural gains, including the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover and the ₦39 billion Otovwodo Junction, Ughelli flyover along the Warri–Patani Expressway.

He further revealed that the proposed 2026 budget, estimated at ₦1.5 trillion, would give priority to capital projects, social welfare, and infrastructure expansion.

“Following the approval of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, ministries are currently fine-tuning their submissions before presentation to the State Executive Council,” Aniagwu added.

He also announced that Governor Oborevwori had directed that all forthcoming empowerment programmes, expected to commence next month, must be transparent and inclusive across all 25 local government areas.

According to him, new projects worth billions of naira including the much-anticipated Otovwodo Junction Flyover would soon have their groundbreaking ceremonies, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to sustaining its infrastructure drive.

Aniagwu assured that the Oborevwori administration would not allow political timelines to interrupt governance, emphasizing that contractors had been mandated to maintain steady progress on all ongoing projects across the state.
