Niger Delta monarch urges expansion of Tantita Security’s mandate to boost local employment

The Paramount Ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty King Obukowho Monday Whiskey (JP+) Ph.D, has commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for their significant contributions to securing the Niger Delta region’s waterways and oil pipelines. 

Speaking at the Critical Stakeholders’ Appreciation Ceremony held at KFT Event Centre in Warri, Delta State, on October 17, 2025, King Whiskey highlighted the positive impact of Tantita’s efforts.

King Whiskey noted substantial progress in security within the Niger Delta thanks to Tantita’s presence, contrasting the region’s previous insecurity.

He appealed to the federal government to broaden Tantita’s mandate, emphasizing benefits for local communities, including job creation for youths, women, and empowerment of the people.

The monarch pointed out ongoing security issues affecting Urhobo areas, urging Tantita to focus on these territories.

Full statement below:

"We can appreciate where we are now because Tantita is present.

"A few years ago, if you go on the waterways of the Niger Delta, you will deeply appreciate that Tantita has achieved much. But we have this challenge. You know, there are always two sides to security. As we are pursuing them from the pipeline in the waterways, they are coming to the Urhobo areas. So Tantita, take note that our area needs special attention.

"On behalf of the Urhobo traditional rulers, we want to appeal to the federal government that Tantita, while we are appreciating them, we are submitting our application that the scope of this job be expanded so that they can employ more of our youth, so that they can employ more of our women, so that they can empower more of our people.

"It is on this note that I want to specially congratulate the chairman of Tantita Security, my brother, High Chief, (D.r) Government, Oweizide Ekpemupolo, and the MD of Tantita Security, High Chief, Engr. Kestin Pondi.

"On behalf of the Urhobo Traditional Rulers, we are happy, we are honoured for this privilege. Please stay blessed and thank you very much." Statement added.
