Hon. Tina Kukune launches 7 Day wig-making training in Warri South

The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Women Development, Hon. Tina Toritsemode Kukune, has officially launched a 7-day intensive training on machine wig production in Warri South Local Government Area.
The program, which runs from September 22 to 29 at the Ugbuwangue Youth Secretariat, is designed to provide women and youths with practical skills that can translate into sustainable income, entrepreneurship, and self reliance.
In her address at the opening ceremony, Hon. Kukune urged participants to take the training seriously and make the most of the opportunity before them. She emphasized that vocational skills remain an essential tool for financial independence in today’s economy, especially as traditional job opportunities become increasingly limited. According to her, those who embrace skills acquisition not only improve their own livelihood but also contribute to building stronger families and more resilient communities.
Hon. Kukune further commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his visionary leadership and his commitment to the MORE Agenda, which places women empowerment and grassroots development at its core. She assured that her office would continue to align with this vision by creating avenues for women and youths to gain access to knowledge and resources that can change their lives for the better.
The training also stands out as a timely intervention in a period when many women are seeking practical and profitable ventures to support themselves and their households. Wig-making, being both a creative and income-generating skill, offers participants the chance to tap into a growing market while developing confidence and independence. Such programs, therefore, serve not only as economic empowerment but also as platforms to uplift women’s voices and potential in society.
By offering this platform for skill acquisition, Hon. Kukune has once again highlighted the value of educating and equipping women to thrive beyond the barriers of unemployment. Many participants expressed their enthusiasm, noting that the training was an opportunity to learn a craft that could transform their financial situations if diligently pursued. The presence of a supportive environment and experienced trainers is expected to make the experience both impactful and rewarding.
This initiative ultimately reinforces the Delta State government’s efforts to build capacity among women and young people while nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit across the state. As the program unfolds in Warri South, it sends a strong message about the power of education, creativity, and empowerment in shaping a future where women are not just beneficiaries of development but active contributors to economic growth and community advancement.
