Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Area, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA, has decried what he termed the blatant disregard for constituted authority by members of Egiegi Community, following a series of confrontations and violent attacks on council personnel.

In an official statement issued by his office, Oyibode expressed deep displeasure over the ongoing crisis in Egiegi Community, particularly the alleged excommunication of the community’s duly elected President, Mr. Bishop Ugbosu, and the destruction of his property. He emphasized that his administration had made several efforts to resolve the issue through dialogue, all of which were met with hostility.

According to the Council Chairman, three formal invitations were sent to community stakeholders to discuss the mahybvcvtter. During the first two attempts, a media aide, Mr. William Etuwere (Sirwilly), narrowly escaped assault by community youths while delivering the letters. More disturbingly, on the third attempt on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 Pastor Amos Ogodo, a staff member of the Council’s Community Department, was allegedly attacked and brutalized by Egiegi youths while delivering a follow-up invitation.

Describing the attack as “uncivilised and unacceptable,” Oyibode condemned the actions of the community members in the strongest terms, warning that such behaviour amounted to both contempt for his office and a treasonable act.

Highlighting his leadership approach, Oyibode reiterated his guiding philosophy of the "Three Cs" Consultation, Consolidation, and Confrontation. He stated that while the first two have been exercised in good faith, the lack of cooperation from the community may compel him to implement the final “C.”

“I have consulted, I have sought to consolidate peace, but if this impunity continues, I will have no choice but to confront the situation head-on,” Oyibode warned.

He urged the people of Egiegi to embrace peace, uphold lawful processes, and respect constituted authority. The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining law, order, and unity across Udu Local Government Area.
