Level of impunity, recklessness in Nigeria is execessive - Group

Following a media publication by the US Mission that the ruling class in Nigeria spends billions in renovating government houses and lodges in the midst of the economic hardship, a group, the Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancement (ISRCA), also known as “No Justice, No Peace” today said the level of impunity and recklessness in Nigeria is excessive.
This is contained in a statement signed by ISRCA National Coordinator, Comrade(Amb.) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen.
According to the Publication,# TransoarwncyTuwaday
TheAfricaReport: Nigeria'sRulingClass splashes billions on government houses", the group warned that, not until Nigerian Citizens collectively hold these Local Government Chairmen and State Governors accountable from the grassroots, Nigeria's progress will be hindered.
The group urged Nigerian Citizens to hold local government Chairmen and governors accountable especially with the financial support given to them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stressed, "It is imperative that we scrutinize their actions.
"Given that PBAT has consistently provided financial support, it is essential that we hold them accountable for their responsibilities.
The group said, "They now have more funds for developmental projects in their various States and are now closer to the people."
The group queried, "How can a government, at the beginning of every tenure, spend so much of taxpayers' money on building and renovating government houses and lodges amidst numerous economic setbacks? Imagine spending over ₦39B to renovate an already existing ICC building?
The group also stated that, "Unfortunately, members of the APC are benefiting immensely. Even state Governors and other officials have defected to the All Progressives Congress to avoid scrutiny, primarily to align with the current administration's stance, utilizing public resources entrusted to them."
