Egbo flags off 2025 Ughelli North Chairman's Cup, commends Oborevwori for flyover

To harness talents for the future, Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Movudu Egbo, Esq, Wednesday officially flagged off the 2025 edition of the Chairman's Cup Competition, with calls for unity and continued development in Ughelli North.
Egbo also used the opportunity to commend Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving a flyover construction at the busy Otovwodo junction of Ughelli.
The Chairman's Cup Competition marks the commencement of activities to mark his one year in office.
The opening ceremony held at the Oharisi Primary School playground, witnessed attendance of galaxy of dignitaries across the Local Government.
Rt. Hon. Kelly Ajero Okeoghene Prosper (Leader of the Legislative Arm), Hon. Pastor Unuavworho Irikefe Goodluck (Secretary to the Local Government), Councillors, Traditional Chiefs, Community Leaders, and sports enthusiasts thronged the venue.
Egbo described the tournament as more than just a football competition, but a "celebration of unity, youth, and community development."
The Senior lawyer and Knight of St. Christopher emphasized his administration’s focus on engaging young people through initiatives that foster discipline, teamwork, peace, and talent development across the seven kingdoms of Ughelli North.
According to him, “This initiative is not just a football tournament; it reflects our administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and peacebuilding among the seven kingdoms of Ughelli North,” he stated.
He expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders and community leaders for their efforts and support. He then delivered a passionate segment of his speech that stirred the crowd.
Commending the Governor, Egbo added, “That’s the flyover we’ve been fighting for, that we’ve been urging for it has now been approved by our government. That’s why the enemies tried hard because they knew this bridge, this flyover, would be given out. But they failed. And so, we are going to reject them. We are going to reject them!”
“Sheriff till 2031! Love you so. Yes! Governor till, President till 2031. Any other thing that is Ojoro we will not do. We want our bridge, as the paper is on the ground. Love you so. I thank you all.”
Egbo urged the people to rally behind the Governor's MORE Agenda and to support his leadership through 2031 for sustained progress.
The opening match of the Chairman’s Cup saw Ogor Kingdom play Orogun Kingdom, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. The next fixture on Thursday, 24th July 2025, will feature Agbarho Kingdom versus Ughelli Kingdom at the same venue.
