Governor Adeleke Endorses President Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Adeleke, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the surprise endorsement known in a statement released on Tuesday, following a strategic meeting with the PDP leadership caucus in Osogbo.

The governor, however, was quick to dismiss rumours of defection, stating clearly that he remains a loyal and committed member of the PDP.

"Yesterday, I met with the @OfficialPDPNig Leadership Caucus in Osogbo after weeks of consultations with stakeholders across Osun — from traditional rulers and civil servants to market leaders and grassroots party members,” Adeleke said.

According to him, the endorsement of President Tinubu is part of a broader effort to strengthen federal-state collaboration, which he says is necessary for Osun’s continued growth and development.

While pledging support for Tinubu’s second term bid in 2027, Governor Adeleke also reaffirmed his own ambition for a second term as governor in 2026, stating that the people of Osun have expressed overwhelming support for his re-election.

The endorsement is expected to stir political conversations across party lines, especially given Adeleke’s high-profile position within the PDP.

Observers say it could signal a new wave of bipartisan political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
