Four Escape Death in Port Harcourt Crash Involving Faulty Lexus

Four individuals, including three children, narrowly escaped death on Monday evening following a serious auto accident along Goodluck Avenue in the Egbelu area of Port Harcourt.

The crash, which occurred at about 5:30 PM, involved a 2008 model Lexus ES330 reportedly driven by a man identified as Mr. Chiboi, who was traveling at high speed from Nbeleku to Goodluck Avenue.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when the driver attempted to avoid a head-on collision with another vehicle. In the process, he lost control, struck three children along the roadside, and crashed into a fenced wall.

In a remarkable twist of fate, all individuals involved  including the driver and the children  escaped unhurt, sustaining neither major nor minor injuries.

However, the vehicle was extensively damaged in the impact.

Speaking at the scene, Mr. Chiboi disclosed that the vehicle had been experiencing brake issues, which had been previously reported to his employer. He explained that he was en route to a mechanic when the brakes failed completely, causing him to panic and lose control.

The incident has prompted renewed calls from residents for stricter traffic oversight and improved vehicle maintenance culture, especially for vehicles operating in residential areas.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the crash to determine the full circumstances surrounding the mechanical failure and assess possible safety violations.
