Tinubu Renames University of Maiduguri After Late Former President Buhari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially renamed the University of Maiduguri (UniMaid) in Borno State after former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The announcement was made on Thursday during a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Abuja to honour the former president.

With this change, the institution will now be known as Muhammadu Buhari University (MBU).

President Tinubu said the renaming is a way to recognize Buhari’s service and contributions to Nigeria, especially in the fight against terrorism in the North-East region.

The University of Maiduguri, founded in 1975, is one of the leading federal universities in Northern Nigeria.
