Tantita Trains Field Officers in Survival Swimming and Water Safety

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has organized a Survival Swimming and Water Safety Training for its personnel operating in riverine areas, this initiative is a move to improve the safety and readiness of its field officers.
The intensive training took place at the Nigeria Maritime University’s Kurutie Campus, located in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State a region surrounded by rivers and creeks. The goal was simple but vital: to ensure that officers tasked with protecting oil pipelines in the Niger Delta know how to survive and respond during water emergencies.
Many of the officers who participated in the program are from coastal and creekside communities, where marine transport is a daily way of life. Despite their experience on the water, Tantita believes that proper training in life-saving swimming techniques, water rescue procedures, and emergency drills is key to preventing accidents.
The safety of our workforce is our top priority,” one of the coordinators said. “We operate in high-risk environments, and this training gives our men the confidence and skills they need to handle unexpected situations on water.”
The training is part of Tantita’s larger commitment to improving the skills and welfare of its operatives. Since the company began operations, it has prioritized local recruitment, giving young people in oil-producing areas not just jobs, but also life-saving knowledge.
The training sessions were hands-on and practical. Officers learned how to stay afloat without life jackets, help drowning victims, and react quickly in case of boat mishaps or other emergencies.
In a region where water is both a highway and a hazard, such training can mean the difference between life and death. It also speaks to Tantita’s proactive approach to security and personnel development.
As one field officer said after the session, “This is more than just training. It’s a lifeline.
