Supreme Court Affirms Senator Monday Okpebholo as Edo State Governor

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Thursday affirmed Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State, effectively ending the legal challenge filed by Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The apex court dismissed the appeal for lacking merit, upholding the decision of the lower courts which had previously validated Okpebholo's election victory.

With this ruling, the court has laid to rest the post-election legal battle over the 2024 Edo governorship race, solidifying Okpebholo’s mandate and paving the way for his administration to proceed without legal distractions.
