Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the disbursement of funds for the 2024 scholarship programme targeted at two vulnerable groups: children of deceased civil servants who died in active service, and students with disabilities from Delta State.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita, who noted that the initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to promote educational equity and inclusion.
According to Dr. Enita, the scholarship scheme is designed to support beneficiaries across all educational levels—from primary to tertiary institutions—ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial hardship or physical challenges.
“The Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the disbursement of funds for the 2024 scholarships to two key groups: children of deceased civil servants (who died in active service) and students with disabilities from Delta State,” the statement read.
He added that the gesture underscores Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to expanding access to education and fostering equal opportunities for all Deltans, irrespective of social or economic background.
“This initiative reflects the Governor’s inclusive governance philosophy and his unwavering dedication to building a state where every child has the chance to succeed, regardless of their circumstances,” the statement concluded.
The scholarship programme is part of the Oborevwori administration’s broader social investment agenda aimed at uplifting underserved and marginalized communities through strategic and compassionate interventions.
