"It's an Abomination to Respond to Wike” – PDP’s Bode George fires back during an interview

Elder statesman and prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has lashed out at Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing his utterances and conduct as unbecoming of a party member — and insisting he would not reduce himself to trading words with someone who is agemate with his first child.

Speaking during an appearance on Arise News Prime Time, Chief George, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, called it “a disgusting abomination” and "infra dignitatem" (beneath dignity) to respond to Wike directly, adding that history will judge the former Rivers Governor’s actions.

“The political Iroko tree that is the PDP remains as strong as ever,” George asserted. “When young people blow their pipes and they don’t listen, time will tell.”

He emphasized that the PDP remains Nigeria’s most viable alternative, capable of delivering solutions to the country’s numerous challenges — if members unite and enforce discipline within the ranks.

Chief George expressed disappointment at Wike’s recent remarks, particularly his attack on respected elder statesman, the late Chief Edwin Clark. He described the Minister’s conduct as a violation of party ethics and decorum, saying it is the duty of the PDP Board of Trustees to rein in such errant behaviour.

“The party is collectively owned. No individual has the right to fire anybody except the National Executive Committee (NEC),” George noted. “One day, Wike’s time in public administration will come to an end.”

He further revealed that the NEC is expected to deliberate on Wike’s actions at its next meeting, suggesting possible disciplinary action may be on the table.

The tension within the PDP has been simmering for months, particularly following Wike’s recent comments and his subsequent alignment with the ruling APC-led federal government. Chief George’s comments are the latest in a series of intra-party jabs as the PDP grapples with internal reforms and questions of loyalty ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
