BREAKING: Tinubu deceived us, is running down the economy — Babachir Lawal fires on Live TV

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has publicly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing him of deceiving the Nigerian people and running the country’s economy into further distress.
Speaking in an interview on the Arise Morning Show today, Lawal made bold claims regarding the current state of the nation, while also expressing admiration for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“I have great respect for Atiku. He is not just a former vice president, but also an elder in my state. Among all the contenders, he has presented himself as the most committed to this course,” Lawal said, hinting at the political future and leadership crisis in the country.
As Nigerians grow increasingly anxious about the nation’s direction, Lawal voiced concerns from his home state, Plateau. “We are nearing the end of this process, and people are asking: what progress has been made in Plateau? There are no visible signs,” he noted.
His sharpest comments, however, were reserved for President Tinubu, whom he accused of betraying public trust.
“Tinubu deceived us and is running down the economy,” he declared.
When asked by the anchors how he could make such a statement given recent commendations of the Tinubu administration by international bodies like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Lawal responded pointedly:
“He doesn’t need to say it, but just has to show actions. There is no state that is safe. Any state that endorses Tinubu because he provides security or safety is a shameless state.”
Lawal's remarks have already begun generating intense reactions online and within political circles. As the nation inches closer to critical political milestones, his comments may add further fuel to an already polarized national debate.
