The Federal Government has scrapped all tuition and boarding fees for students enrolling in its 33 Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTCs) starting from the 2025–2026 academic session.

This game-changing policy was hailed by the Member Representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Ajirioghene Jonathan Ukodhiko, as a golden opportunity for young people particularly those from underserved communities to secure a future through technical and vocational education.

This initiative is a gateway to empowerment, self-sufficiency, and dignity,” Ukodhiko said in a community outreach announcement. “He urged every family in Isoko and beyond to take it seriously especially If they dreamt of becoming a builder, electrician, healthcare assistant, or entrepreneurs”.

The new scheme, under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, will begin in August 2025 and promises not just free education — but a complete support package including:

* Three years of tuition-free training
* Free accommodation and daily meals
* Monthly stipends for upkeep
* Access to federal grants or loans upon graduation
* Globally recognized certifications in technical and business skills

Nigeria's youth unemployment rate remains a pressing concern. TVET offers a practical, employment-oriented education that bridges the gap between school and the workplace. Students are trained in sectors like: Construction, Hospitality, Engineering, Information Technology, Health Services

Upon graduation, students receive both the National Technical Certificate (NTC) and the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) — both recognized internationally, making it easier for them to work or study abroad.

Interested candidates and families can follow these simple steps to enroll:

1. Visit any of the 33 FSTC campuses listed nationwide to begin registration.
2. Pay a one-time registration fee of ₦4,200 only.
3. FSTC staff will assist with online registration.
4. Registration ends Thursday, 12th June 2025.
5. Entrance Examination holds on Saturday, 14th June 2025 at 9:00 AM in the selected college.

Late registrations will not be accepted. Early preparation is advised.

Hon. Ukodhiko has pledged to assist interested constituents in accessing nearby FSTCs, particularly through community outreach programs, education sensitization, and transportation support for the exam day.

“This is not just policy  it’s hope. It’s the kind of progress that plants seeds for the next generation,” he said.

There are 33 institutions spread across all geopolitical zones, including:

* FSTC Yaba, Lagos
* FSTC Uyo– Akwa Ibom
* FSTC Ilesa– Osun
* FSTC Tungbo, Bayelsa
* FSTC Otukpo, Otobi & Otukpa– Benue
* FSTC Awka,  Anambra
* FSTC Orozo & Bwari, FCT Abuja
* FSTC Ikot Ekpene – Akwa Ibom
* (Full list available at local education offices and the Ministry of Education website)

In a country brimming with untapped potential, the Federal Government’s decision to open the doors of free technical education is a powerful statement: no dream should be deferred because of poverty. And with advocates like Hon. Ukodhiko ensuring the message reaches every village and town, many young Nigerians are now stepping forward to seize this rare chance.

One application. One exam. A lifetime of opportunity.
