Gbaramatu Youth Council Calls On DSS To Arrest Diden For Allegedly Inciting Ethnic Crisis In Delta

Gbaramatu Youth Council Council has called on the Department of State Security Services (DSS) to arrest and prosecute Hon. Michael Diden a.k.a Ejele for allegedly inciting Ethnic Crisis in Delta State. This was made known by the group while briefing the press over the weekend. Speaking on behalf of the group, the Public Relations Officer, Maxwell Wuruyai said there was a video that went viral in social media platforms when Hon. Diden was seen calling for attack of Ijaw individuals from Gbaramatu Kingdom employed by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. According to him, such a call is capable of causing ethnic crisis on the area which has enjoyed relative peace over the years.
He said, most of the communities in Itsekiris are used as cover for illegal oil activities adding, Hon. Diden is frustrated by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited since he was unable to carry out his illegal oil activities hence he wants to use the crisis to perfect his plans. He said: "We firmly believe that Ejele's bitterness stem from his disruption of his alleged illegal bunkering by Tantita operations,.he now thinks to incite ethnic unrest to create safe haven for his illegal trade"
According to him, Gbaramatu people have been known for peace as they never had intention to attack their neighbours as they are surprised that Hon. Ejele wants to cause disaffection between them and Itsekiris neighbours.
He said Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited is not owned by Gbaramatu Kingdom but it is a company that is engaged by the Federal Government to protect oil facilities from being vandalism, theft and illegal bunkering that has caused the Federal Government loss of revenue over the years.
While calling on the Federal Government to monitor Hon. Ejele and restrain him from causing crisis to disturb the relative peace the region has enjoyed for some years now, the body said it is not true Tantita Security Services Limited attacked any community as claimed by Hon. Ejele and calling on Ejele tender his evidence of the alleged attack as Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited does not work alone but in conjunction with other security agencies such as the Navy and others.
According to him, the unguided allegations of Hon. Ejele on the purported attack on communities by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited is not only an insult on Tantita but the various security agencies that work with the organization to curb oil theft in the region. He said based on Nigeria Constitution in section 366 under the criminal Code, it is a criminal offence for anybody to be involved in violence threats or something of that nature as that person faces criminal charges in this regard.
He said, the various communities including that of Itsekiris benefit from Tantita operations as the 3% for community development under Petroleum Industrial Act is achievable when oil infrastructure is protected from destruction. He assured Itsekiris brothers and sisters to remain calm as there is no cause for alarm. He however said, they are saying this is not out of fear but they want peace to reign in the region to attract the necessary growth and development. He said:" We called on our Itsekiris brothers, sisters to reject this rhetoric. The true enemies are not those securing the nation's assets but those exploiting the nation's assets for personal gains". He said however, if the DSS could not do the needful as regards the matter on ground, they will resort to selves' defence as they can not fold their arms and be assaulted as according to him, nobody has the monopoly of provocation.
"Nobody has the monopoly of provocation, but for the sake of peace, we continue to show restraint, our silence is not to be taken for fear, we remain vigilant, united and committed to defending our land, name and peace we have always stood for." he said.
