Lagos Police uncover Baby Factory, rescue 10 victims—three arrested

In a dramatic operation sparked by a tip-off, the Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a baby factory in the Ijegun area, rescuing ten victims and arresting three suspects involved in the illegal operation.
The Lagos State Police Command has busted a suspected baby factory in Ijegun, leading to the rescue of seven adult women and three children, as well as the arrest of three suspects.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed the development on Monday, said the operation followed a tip-off received last Saturday, which led officers to the location where the illegal activities were being carried out.
Arrested at the scene were 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, identified as the prime suspect, along with Orie Ruth (23) and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18).
According to Hundeyin, the rescued victims include three children Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2)—as well as seven women aged between 22 and 26: Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26).
The victims are currently receiving medical care, psychological support, and shelter, while the suspects are under interrogation.
"The suspects confessed during questioning that they kidnapped the victims from various locations across the state to operate the baby factory,” Hundeyin said.
The police stated that charges would be filed upon the conclusion of investigations.
The incident is part of a wider crackdown on criminal activities in the state. Hundeyin revealed that 39 suspects involved in crimes such as murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child theft, vandalism, illegal possession of firearms, and drug trafficking were arrested in recent operations.
In a separate case, police officers successfully rescued two kidnapped individuals in the Igbe Alagemo area of Ijede, Ikorodu, after a coordinated effort involving local security teams.
The victims, Dare (40) and Rodiat (25), were abducted in a violent home invasion on the night of March 26, 2025.
"The kidnappers killed a security dog while breaking into Dare’s residence before taking him. They later kidnapped Rodiat from a nearby house under similar circumstances,” Hundeyin said.
The victims were rescued on March 29 at about 11:56 p.m., following a 72-hour search operation.
Hundeyin noted that both victims have been reunited with their families, and the community has since returned to calm.
"Surveillance continues, and efforts are underway to arrest the criminals behind the abduction,” he added.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
