The only solution to Insecurity in Nigeria is to split - Muoboghare

An erudite scholar and renowned academic, Prof Patrick Muoboghare has revealed that the only solution to resolve the recurring insecurity amongst ethnic nationalities is for the country, Nigeria to split up and allow everybody or region to go their separate ways.
Muoboghare, a former Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education made this call yesterday while reacting to the Uromi incident and continued insecurity that has bedeviled the nation in the recent times.
According to him, "The unity of Nigeria today is by the grace of the South, before now they declared in the North that they are not Nigerians by deliberately breaching the constitution and declaring state religion.
"They did it in the breach in Obasanjo's time even when the constitution state it very clear that no state shall have state religion, they established their Hisbah that could arrest the police.
"They have established their Hisbah that could destroy trailer loads of alcoholic drinks and yet come to the centre every month to share VAT on alcohol, they are pretenders and not Nigerians because they have longed pulled away.
"The average northerner would prefer to construct roads to other nearby countries than to the South because they believed they are not Nigerians as they havevcousins from those nearby countries and they are looking at us from the South as conquered people.
"It is we from the South that are the conquered people that are funding Boko Haram with the ransom we pay after any kidnap and government cannot pretend that they are not aware that we are funding Boko Haram by the ransom that we pay.
"We have not heard it that Cattle owners are being kidnapped, or one Alhaji from the North and that shows that we have been made their slaves and conquered people.
"The average Northern person believed that it is their official position that Nigeria belong to him and there is nothing other people can do and that is why they can enter our farm, uproot planted our crops and give to their cattle to eat.
"The moment, a native is being killed by these herdsmen and the communities want to react, then you will see the military because they would be informed of what they had done in order to protect them from reprisal.
"The average Southerner has given up on the system and that is why the security agents can not protect you when being raped by Fulani herdsmen, not just in Uwheru, Delta or Edo but in Ondo, Ogun, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Cross Rivers.
"But the only solution to this is for us to go our separate ways and if the East go away successfully for example, no herdsman will dare infiltrate the territory of the East nor South and West as that would be declaration of war.
"Nigeria as presently constituted cannot be secured and don't forget when Boko Haram started, they have their demands and one of their demands is that Sharia must be practiced all over Nigeria and that was how they frustrated Jonathan out.
"They openly said that a fight against Boko Haram is a fight against the North and it is the South that is holding this country together because of the oil and once that oil dries up, they are gone.
"The only way out of this is to your tent, let this country split and I mean it because nothing will come out of it with the way this country is constituted and we would be good neighbors." He added.
On the recent killing in Uromi, Edo State, Muoboghare condemned the act of jungle justice meted on the people but said, "Why was that vehicle carrying them with arms, where were they going with arms to do what.?
"This is not an isolated thing because Uromi has been a killing zone for some time now and the people no longer sleep with their eyes closed
"That is a community where a woman was raped in the presence of her husband by killer herdsmen, a child is raped in their presence their her parents and as we speak no just one man has been arrested and prosecuted by the police just like how it happened in Uwheru in Delta state.
"Because of this, the people have given up on security agents as these people will kill and vanish into the forest and again banned them from using their God given land.
"And these people are filled with anger and the anger is bottled up to the extent when they see anybody with machete they going for him because the pains they are passing through.
"But these people saw armed people in their territory and they would not know if they have killed their people again and they are escaping or going to where they would kill them.
"And something happened, but I don't like mob action as that is not part of my training but the environment should not be made conducive for mob action because when anything happened in the community, the first place to go is the police station.
"But the police will terrorize, harass you for coming and asked you unnecessary questions and as such the people resigned to their own fate and this happened and there was a mob action.
"But the question that needed to be answered is where was these armed me coming from because some say it's Port Harcourt while others are saying Ogun State, we need to know." Muoboghare said.
