Intervene urgently in protest by Keke riders over increment in sticker price, Group tell Oborevwori

A group, Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement (ISRCA) AKA “No Justice, No Peace” in a statement sent to Our Correspondent in Warri has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to urgently address the issue that led to protest by commercial tricycle operators in some areas of the State.
The group noted that the tricycle operators are resisting the increment of the sticker price by its union, which allegedly skyrocketed from ₦3,000 to ₦12,000.
ISRCA National Coordinator, Comrade (Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen said, "Considering the level of hardship resulting from economic challenges and poor policy implementation by the government, Nigerians now face numerous difficulties due to the impact on prices of goods and commodities in the markets."
A cording to the group, "With no efforts from the Delta State Government to provide alternative solutions to poverty in the region through schemes benefiting indigenous people of Delta and other residents, the intervention of her State Governor to reduce the price of tricycle sticker’s across the state would be a prudent step in the right direction.
"Since the collapse of the Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme, introduced to Deltans under former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, which was discontinued by the previous administration under Dr. Ifeanyi A. Okowa, the RT. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration should consider taking decisive action against sticker sales to benefit tricycle riders, indigenous people, and residents who rely on Keke as a means of transportation for their daily livelihood.
"The Delta State Government should capitalize on the challenges faced by tricycle riders to substantially reduce the price of stickers and also decrease the transportation costs imposed on residents, establishing a standardized price.
"This is the fundamental purpose of establishing a government in any location, not only to reduce costs but also to provide enabling opportunities for the vast majority.
"The State Government should endeavour to take appropriate measures to engage tricycle drivers, considering that it has been one of the many hustling ventures the people can undertake to earn a living, as it has become the only means for survival and job replacement.
"Delta State Government should intervene to rectify the situation by engaging the tricycle unions to reduce the price of the sticker’s, leveraging its authority to reduce transportation costs for ultimately benefiting residents."
