Notorious Kidnap Kingpin ‘Dogo’ Arrested in Delta State, Weapons Recovered

In a major breakthrough against kidnapping and violent crimes in Delta State, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP SAT) have arrested a notorious kidnapping syndicate leader, Adamu Abubakar, popularly known as ‘Dogo.’ The arrest, carried out on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the DSC Roundabout in Warri, led to the apprehension of two other suspects, Abubakar Mohammed, alias ‘Chede,’ and Mohammed Bellow, at Otovwodo Park in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The operation, led by ASP Julius Robinson, was based on intelligence gathered during an extensive investigation into kidnapping and armed robbery incidents in Ughelli North and surrounding areas.
According to Delta State Police Command spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were responsible for multiple kidnappings and armed robberies across Iyamuge, Otu-Jeremi, Warri, and Ughelli. Acting on their confessions, the police were led to Iyamugo Forest, where a cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, three locally made firearms, two magazines, sixty rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, and seventeen live cartridges, was recovered.
As the operatives exited the forest, they were ambushed by suspected gang members, leading to a gunfight. Five assailants sustained gunshot wounds and later died in the hospital, while others managed to escape. Meanwhile, the three arrested suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents.
