Bridging the Digital Divide: Tompolo Foundation, Tantita Security Services, and PEB ICT Services Launch Empowerment Program in Delta State ..... 100 Beneficiaries Begin Six-Month Training in Digital Skills

A transformative ICT empowerment program has been launched in Warri, Delta State, bringing 100 participants from diverse ethnic backgrounds, Ijaw, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Isoko, and Ndokwa, into a six-month intensive training initiative aimed at bridging the digital skills gap in the region.
The program, spearheaded by the Tompolo Foundation,Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, and PEB ICT Services, officially commenced with an orientation ceremony, setting the stage for a life-changing journey for its beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Executive Secretary of the Tompolo Foundation, emphasized the critical role of digital literacy in today’s evolving world, noting that the program was designed to empower individuals, regardless of their educational or employment status, with essential technological skills.
“The world is advancing rapidly, and we cannot afford to be left behind,” Dr Paul Bebenimibo stated. “This initiative is a response to the urgent need for digital skills, equipping people with tools to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in various industries."
He further stressed that the program’s goal is to empower participants to become self-employed, access global clients, and work remotely using digital platforms.
“Technology is now an integral part of fields like medicine, engineering, politics, and business. By acquiring these skills, individuals will not only improve their personal livelihoods but also contribute to national development.”
The training curriculum is structured to provide participants with in-demand digital skills, covering:
✅ Computer Basics (for those with no prior knowledge)
✅ Graphic Design
✅ Cybersecurity
✅ Web Development
✅ Data Analysis
According to Moses Major, Administrative Manager of PEB ICT Services, each trainee will specialize in two areas, ensuring a deep understanding of their chosen fields. Profiling and course selection are set to begin on Monday, March 10, at the PEB ICT office on Jakpa Road, Warri.
To support participants, the program includes:
. Monthly stipends to cover transportation and basic needs
- Hands-on training with access to modern equipment
- Laptops for top-performing trainees upon completion
Moses Major acknowledged some of the initial challenges faced while setting up the program, particularly power supply constraints. However, he assured attendees that the issue had been fully addressed.
“One of our biggest concerns was electricity. Initially, we relied on diesel and petrol-powered generators, but we have now installed a solar power system to ensure an uninterrupted learning experience,” he explained.
In addition to power, the availability of computing devices was another challenge.
“We had some computers already, but given the large number of participants, we acquired additional laptops. If the need arises, we are ready to procure more, ensuring sustainability for the program.”
For many beneficiaries, this initiative represents a golden opportunity to gain skills that could redefine their careers and businesses.
Patience Clarkson, a fashion designer from Delta State’s Southwest region, expressed profound gratitude.
“This is an incredible opportunity! Normally, people pay a lot of money to learn these skills, but I am receiving it for free. I see this as an added advantage to my business, and I’m truly grateful to the organizers.”
Kelvin Kpogho, an Itsekiri participant, highlighted how the program would enhance his agriculture business.
“Technology plays a huge role in modern farming, and this training will help me integrate ICT into my business. The monthly stipend is also a great relief, as it will cover my transportation costs.”
Similarly, Tarinibe Goodman-Enebeli praised the program for equipping people with remote work opportunities skills, noting that many jobs today can be done from home with the right digital skills.
“This program is extremely helpful because remote jobs are the future. I am grateful to the sponsors for investing in our future.”
The orientation ceremony ended with group photographs, marking the beginning of what promises to be a transformative journey for the participants.
With digital skills becoming an essential part of the modern workforce, the Tompolo Foundation, Tantita Security Services, and PEB ICT Services are paving the way for a new generation of digitally empowered individuals.
As the six-month program unfolds, beneficiaries are not only gaining knowledge but also securing their futures in the global digital economy.
