Rivers State Judiciary Debunks False Report on Chief Judge’s alleged One-Year Recess leave

The Rivers State Judiciary has strongly refuted a misleading and baseless report published by News Week Electronic Media on March 5, 2025, which falsely claimed that the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amodi (DSSRS), was set to embark on a one-year recess leave.
In an official statement, the High Court Chief Registrar, David O. Ihua-Maduenyi, Esq., categorically dismissed the report as malicious, unfounded, and deliberately misleading.
“For the record, the Chief Judge has neither announced nor intends to announce any form of recess or extended leave. Such a concept is entirely alien to the judicial calendar and does not exist within the framework of judicial officers’ vacations.”
The Judiciary clarified that the only recognized vacations for judicial officers are Christmas vacation, Easter vacation, and the annual vacation, all of which are well-documented and publicly available.
The statement further urged the public to disregard the false report, warning that it was a deliberate attempt to cause disaffection and confusion within the state.
“The author of this publication, Joke Clifford, and the publishers of the website www.newsweekng.com are hereby ordered to immediately retract this false publication or face legal consequences,” the statement warned.
The Rivers State Judiciary reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process, and the rule of law, assuring the public that judicial operations remain unaffected by such misleading claims.
