9-year-old Ebis dreams big: A future lawyer with a mission to transform his community

Ebis Smooth, a 9-year-old boy from Egbemene community, popularly known as Fenegbene in Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State, recently shared his inspiring story with our investigative team.
Despite facing numerous challenges, Ebis has big aspirations. He dropped out of school in primary 4 due to financial constraints, who works in a bakery for N500 a day or sell aluminium to make ends meet.
Ebis lamented the poor living conditions in his community, citing rampant hunger and insecurity.
"Sometimes, them dey thief people properties for this Fenegbene, even generators dey lost," he said.
However, Ebis's determination and ambition shine through. "In the future, I want to become a lawyer. When I do, I'll make sure my community becomes a better place," he added.
Ebis's story highlights the struggles faced by many young Nigerians, who despite adversity, hold onto their dreams and aspirations. His desire to become a lawyer and transform his community is a testament to the resilience and hope that defines a new generation of leaders.
