Breaking: Canoe accident puts journalists in harm's way in Niger Delta community

A harrowing incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Egbemene community river in Warri Southwest Local Government Area, Delta State, as our investigative team on a mission to uncover the untold stories of under represented Niger Delta communities who lack social amenities got caught up in a canoe accident.
While navigating the waterways to gather news at Egbemene, popularly known as Fenegbene, PEBNEWS correspondents' canoe were in a point to capsized, leaving them stranded. In the chaos that ensued, one of the journalists sustained severe injuries, including a suspected fracture.
Rushed to a traditional birth attendant (massager) who specializes in treating fractures, injuries, broken bones, among others in Warri, the injured journalist received immediate attention.
This incident highlights the risks and challenges journalists face while reporting from remote and hard-to-reach areas, particularly in the Niger Delta region.
Despite the setbacks, our journalists remain committed to sharing the stories and struggles of the communities they serve.
