Health and Safety: Uvwie Chairman visits Ekpan Market, Aruakpor-Umah Centre
The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Chief Anthony Ofoni JP, has expressed concern over the safety and health of the people by paying recently visit Ekpan Flyover Market to see under the conditions they operate in the area. The Uvwie Council was
accompanied by his vice, Hon. Andrew Agagbo, and several key officials, including the Environmental Committee Chairman, Hon. Collins Ighrakpata, and other councilors and political appointees, Comrade Victory, President of the Ekpan Community, along with members of his executive.
Addressing the people, the Chairman urged the market women who were conducting business under the Ekpan Flyover Bridge close to the Ekpan/NPA Expressway, because of what danger and risks such action poses to their life, to temporarily relocate to a safer space inside the Ekpan Modern Market just as he instructed the contractor overseeing the construction of the new market to expedite the process to ensure the women move to the new site as soon as possible.
Hon. Chief Ofoni alongside his vice, Hon. Andrew Agagbo, the Head of the Health Department, and other council officials also visited the Aruakpor-Una Comprehensive Primary Health Centre, a facility built by Intel's Nigeria Limited but left abandoned for years. PebNews can report that despite the place being well-equipped, the centre had remained unused, leaving the community without adequate health services.
He said he is committed to full operation adding that, the facilities are reopen just as he said he would prioritize the health and well-being of the local community.
In his response, on behalf of the Aruakpor-Una Community, Hon. Omafume Mayar, Protocol Officer to the Executive Chairman, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Chief Ofoni for his swift action in revitalizing the health centre and making community health a priority.
It should be noted that in recent times, the Uvwie Council boss has had unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the Uvwie Community. as his actions underscore a focused approach to addressing urgent safety of the people.
