Speaking at the event, Coach O. Ferri, head coach of Torino FC Academy, expressed the academy’s commitment to elevating local talents to the global stage.

The head coach said: "We are here to identify young talents, from the smallest kids to adult players, in partnership with Torino Football Club in Italy. Those who excel will have the chance to further their training and potentially play abroad," Ferri said.

He encouraged the players to remain disciplined and focused, adding that, "Give your best on the field, behave well, and I assure you, there’s a bright future ahead for those who seize this opportunity."

Pastor Samuel R. Oyibo, a key figure in organizing the event, shared his optimism for the academy's impact.  He said: "I've seen football grow in places where it was barely known, like in parts of Asia. With dedication, we can achieve the same success here," he noted.

Oyibo also thanked DFA Chairman, Hon. Godwin Adode, for his unwavering support in bringing the academy to fruition. "Hon. Adode has been committed to ensuring everything runs smoothly. His visits and dedication have been key to making this initiative a reality," Oyibo added.

He called on retired footballers and other stakeholders to support the academy, stating, "Football is more than  sports —it's about building relationships and creating futures for young players. Together, we can make this project a success, not just in Delta but throughout Nigeria."

With the launch of the Torino Football Club Academy, a new chapter begins for football development in Delta State, offering a platform for young players to shine on the global stage.
