October 1: CDHR urges Tinubu to convoke SNC, says let new constitution evolve
As Nigeria celebrates its sixty fourth independence today, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), has expressed the belief that the current constitution, the ground norm with which the individual and collective lives are being administered was foisted upon the people by an illegitimate government that military is illegitimate.
CDHR National President, Debo Adeniran made the call at a press conference in commemoration of Nigeria's 64th independence.
Adeniran who was represented by the Delta State Branch Chairman of CDHR, Comrade (Elder) Amrevuahwor Peter Edariese urged the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's led Federal Government to convoke a Sovereign National Conference, SNC wherein every Nigerian voice would be directly represented and where a new Nigerian Constitution would evolve.
According to Adeniran,"SNC is the foundation of a true democracy and nationhood; without it, we would only be living under self denial in a mere political contraption without any true unifying factor and therefore signifying nothing but a keg of gunpowder waiting to explode."
