NADCEL 2024: Nigerian Army takes medical outreach to Okerenkoko, Delta
As part of the activities to mark the 2024 Army Day Celebration, NADCEL, the Nigerian Army commenced extensive free medical services on Thursday at Okerenkoko Federated Community in Warri Southwest Local Government Area, of Delta State.
The 2024 Army Day Celebration, which has the theme: ‘Transforming the Nigeria Army: Imperative for combating contemporary security challenges in the joint environment,’ touched lives of Okerenkoko residents and neighbouring communities.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, while flagging off the exercise at Okerenkoko Federated Community, said that the medical outreach was meant to strengthen the existing relationship between the Nigerian Army and the civilian populace.
Lagbaja, who was represented by the Officers of 3 Battalion, Effurun Barracks, said the exercise was part of activities lined up to commemorate the 161 anniversary (1863 – 2024) of the Nigerian Army.
He further said that the Nigerian Army pays due attention to the security and health well-being of members of its host community, which encompasses all Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
The Secretary General Okerenkoko Federated Community, Mr. Andrew Bebenimibo, responding on behalf of the chairman, Hon. Shedrack Otuaro appreciated the Nigerian Army for the great opportunity given to the people to access quality healthcare and other health consumables at no cost.
“We are sincerely grateful to the Nigerian Army for the huge amount of money they had spent in putting this very elaborate medical outreach together," he added.
One of the beneficiaries, Deacon Patrick Igare, Okerenkoko resident, also thanked the Nigerian Army for reviving his health and other gifts from the Nigerian Army.
Igare further said, "This programme is very essential, these are the things we are expecting from the Government, we appreciate it, it's an excellent movement and this should not end, we're still pleading that we should not take this one to be the last and your coming will be welcome", he stated.
